The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is hiring a Team Assistant Intern in its Host Country Services Unit (HCSU) to support administrative teams through data entry, reporting, and data analysis. This is a 6-month in-person internship based at the UN Headquarters in Gigiri, Nairobi.

About UNON
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. UNON supports programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference, and information services.
This internship is hosted within the Host Country Services Unit (HCSU) of Central Support Services, Division of Administrative Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture information from hard copies to electronic systems including Excel, Access, and SharePoint, ensuring accuracy and quality standards
- Create and maintain Excel-based tools and reports
- Provide data analysis and insights to support organizational goals
- Enter information from documents to be stored and transmitted
- Consistently check work for accuracy and completeness
- Complete forms and edit information as required
- Read information and key data into necessary fields
- Compare entered information with source documents to identify and correct errors
- Update existing data in the electronic system
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following at the time of application:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
- Have already graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, Masters, or PhD
Preferred area of study: International Relations, Public Information, or a related discipline
Additional Skills Required
- Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions and VBA is a strong advantage
- Experience in data processing and analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations
- Ability to interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs
Language Requirements
- Fluency in oral and written English is required
- Knowledge of other UN languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian) is desirable

- This internship is completely unpaid — no remuneration or allowances are provided by the United Nations
- Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Kenya may be required to obtain appropriate visa and work authorization
