A full-time Chemistry Teacher vacancy is open at Greensteds International School in Nakuru, Kenya, with a start date of 1st September 2026. If you are a qualified educator with British Curriculum experience and a passion for teaching A Level and IGCSE Chemistry, this is your opportunity to join one of Kenya’s most established international schools. The application deadline is Friday 22nd May 2026 — act fast.
About This Role
This is a full-time teaching position within the Science department at Greensteds International School, covering Chemistry at both IGCSE and A Level under the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) framework. You will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons that challenge strong students while supporting those who need more guidance — a range that demands both subject depth and genuine teaching skill.
The school follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales, so you need to be comfortable working within a structured British Curriculum environment. This is not a role for someone who relies on a single teaching style — Greensteds students come with varied abilities, and your lessons need to reflect that.
This role suits someone who takes ownership of their classroom, contributes actively to departmental planning, and understands what it means to teach in a boarding school environment where teachers are part of a wider school community beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach A Level and IGCSE Chemistry using the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) syllabus to students across ability levels.
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that stretch high achievers while supporting students who need additional input.
- Contribute to Chemistry department planning, scheme of work development, and internal assessments.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback through marking and reporting.
- Participate in departmental meetings, staff development sessions, and school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain accurate student records and prepare reports for parents and school leadership as required.
- Support the wider school community in co-curricular activities and boarding school life where needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a closely related science field from a recognised university
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd, or equivalent)
- Valid TSC (Teachers Service Commission) registration — include your TSC number in your CV
- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching Chemistry under the British Curriculum (IGCSE and/or A Level)
Desirable:
- Experience specifically with Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) at both IGCSE and A Level
- Experience teaching in an international or boarding school setting in Kenya or abroad
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction across mixed-ability classes
Skills and Competencies
- Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry at both IGCSE and A Level CIE standard
- Ability to differentiate instruction effectively across a wide range of student abilities
- Clear written and verbal communication for lesson delivery, parent reports, and departmental collaboration
- Self-driven lesson planning with the ability to work within an established departmental framework
- Commitment to professional development and staying current with CIE syllabus updates
- Adaptability to thrive in a co-educational day and boarding school environment
