Are you a polished, guest-focused hospitality professional ready to take your service career to the next level? A leading 4-star hotel in Nairobi is hiring a Bartender/Waiter through Skills Geographic Recruitment, with a deadline of 27th May 2026. This re-advertised role is open due to the hotel’s rapid growth — meaning more guests, more tables, and more earning potential for you.
About This Role
This Bartender/Waiter position sits at the heart of a busy 4-star hotel’s Food and Beverage operation in Nairobi. You will be the face guests remember — the one who makes them feel welcome, helps them order well, and ensures every interaction reflects the hotel’s standard of excellence. It is a fast-paced environment that rewards consistency, personality, and professional presentation.
The role was re-advertised because the hotel is growing fast. That growth means this is not a dead-end posting — it is an entry point into a hospitality operation that is scaling, with real opportunity to move up as the team expands.
This role suits someone who thrives under pressure, takes pride in personal presentation, and genuinely enjoys creating memorable guest experiences. If three or more years on the floor has sharpened your instincts and you know how to read a guest before they even open the menu, this is your next move.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests at the entrance, escort them to their tables, and ensure they feel valued from the moment they arrive.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately, guiding guests through the menu and making confident recommendations.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and other hotel departments to ensure smooth, timely delivery of orders.
- Upsell hotel services beyond F&B — including spa, room packages, and special offers — to increase guest spend and satisfaction.
- Explain payment options clearly and process bills accurately at the close of each guest interaction.
- Collect guest feedback during and after service, and relay insights to the F&B supervisor to improve future service delivery.
- Maintain your station, service area, and personal presentation to the hotel’s grooming and hygiene standards at all times.
- Support the wider F&B team during peak periods, banquets, and special hotel events as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (O-Level / KCSE) or equivalent
- Certificate in Food and Beverage Service from a recognised Kenyan hospitality college (e.g. Kenya Utalii College, Nairobi Institute of Business Studies, or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Waiter or Bartender in a hotel, restaurant, or similar hospitality setting
- Well-groomed appearance and strong personal presentation at all times
- Proven customer service skills with a track record of positive guest interactions
Desirable:
- Experience specifically in a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment in Nairobi or other major Kenyan towns
- Basic knowledge of wines, cocktails, and beverage pairing
- Familiarity with hotel POS systems and billing software
Skills and Competencies
- Guest-first attitude with the ability to stay calm and professional during busy service periods
- Clear verbal communication in English and Kiswahili
- Strong upselling skills — able to suggest and sell additional services naturally, not pushily
- Attention to detail in order-taking, billing, and table presentation
- Team coordination — able to liaise efficiently with kitchen staff, supervisors, and front office
- Time management — handling multiple tables and requests simultaneously without dropping service quality
What the Hotel Offers
- Salary: KES 30,000 per month plus service charge
- Working environment in one of Nairobi’s premium 4-star hospitality properties
- Career growth opportunity within a rapidly expanding hotel operation
- Exposure to a professional F&B team and high-standard service environment
- The chance to build a strong hospitality career at a property that is actively investing in growth
