MiniGroup is recruiting a Quality Controller on behalf of a leading avocado and avocado oil exporter based in Ruiru, Kenya. The deadline is 15 May 2026. If you have a food science or quality assurance background, at least three years of QA/QC experience in food processing, and hands-on knowledge of ISO and HACCP systems, this is a well-scoped role in a growing export-oriented agribusiness.
About This Role
The Quality Controller will support quality assurance and food safety operations across the full production cycle — from incoming fruit inspection through in-process monitoring to finished product release. You’ll work directly on the production floor, in the laboratory, and within cold room environments, ensuring the client’s export standards meet international food safety requirements.
The hiring organisation is a leading avocado and avocado oil exporter operating out of Ruiru, Kiambu County. The role is on-site and full-time.

- Conduct inspections on incoming fruits, in-process production stages, and finished products
- Perform laboratory tests including Dry Matter content, Free Fatty Acids (FFA), Peroxide Value (PV), and sensory evaluations
- Monitor cold room conditions and hygiene standards throughout storage and handling
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate QA documentation and non-conformance reports
- Identify deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018, HACCP, and GMP standards throughout production operations
Training & Standards
- Train production staff on QA standards and hygiene compliance
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of food safety management systems
Required Qualifications
Education
- Certificate or higher in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of QA/QC experience in food processing — hands-on production floor experience is essential
- Knowledge of avocado grading and avocado oil quality parameters is a significant added advantage
- Familiarity with ISO, HACCP, and food safety management systems
- Proficiency in computer applications for QA reporting and data analysis
For professionals looking to strengthen their food safety credentials, the internationally recognised ISO 22000 food safety management standard provides the framework underpinning this role’s compliance requirements. HACCP certification through accredited bodies is equally valuable for career progression in export-oriented food processing.
