About This Role
The Communications Assistant reports to the Senior Manager, Marketing, Communication & Fundraising and supports PS Kenya’s full communications function — from field photography and video production to social media management, website updates, and event coverage. The role sits at the intersection of visual storytelling and digital content strategy, producing material that brings PS Kenya’s health programmes to life for donors, partners, and the public.
This is an on-site role based at PS Kenya’s offices at Jumuia Place, Wing B, 3rd Floor, Lenana Road, Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Content Production
- Capture high-quality photos and videos during field visits, events, and programme activities
- Edit and produce engaging video content for digital platforms and campaigns
- Support content production end to end — scripting, filming, photography, and post-production editing
- Maintain a strong eye for visual storytelling that authentically represents PS Kenya’s health impact
Digital & Social Media
- Develop, schedule, and publish social media content with strong visual and written quality
- Track social media performance and recommend improvements for audience engagement
- Support website updates to ensure content remains fresh and relevant
Writing & Storytelling
- Write articles, impact stories, and field stories to support organisational storytelling
- Support internal communications and timely dissemination of organisational updates
Events & Administration
- Assist in event planning, coordination, and communications coverage
- Support administrative processes including RQs, payments, and reconciliations

Required Qualifications
Education
- Degree and/or Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in communications, PR, or a content creation role
- Demonstrated experience creating digital content — social media, video, or photography
- Experience in an NGO or donor-funded environment is an added advantage
- A portfolio or links to previous work will strengthen your application significantly
Skills
- Strong photography and videography skills — field and event contexts
- Proficiency in video editing tools — Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar
- Basic graphic design skills — Adobe Creative Suite or similar
- Experience managing social media platforms and analysing performance metrics
- Strong writing skills for digital storytelling and impact reporting
