About This Recruitment
IPOA was established through an Act of Parliament in November 2011 to provide civilian oversight over the work of the Kenya National Police Service. The inaugural Board was sworn in June 2012. IPOA’s mandate covers independent investigations, inspections, audits, and monitoring of the National Police Service — with the goal of preventing impunity and enhancing professionalism in policing.

Senior Accountant — 1 Post
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance) or Business Administration (Accounting option)
- CPA-K qualification and ICPAK membership
- 6 years cumulative service, 3 of which at Accountant I grade (IPOA 8) or equivalent
- Proficiency in computerised accounting packages
Call Centre Officer II — 3 Posts
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Criminology, Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Public Relations, Sociology or equivalent
- Responsible for receiving, sorting, and processing complaints on police misconduct at the IPOA call centre
Complaints Management Officer II — 6 Posts

- Responsible for receiving, documenting, processing, and following up on complaints of police misconduct
Inspections Officer II — 1 Post

- Responsible for conducting inspections of police facilities, premises, and detention centres

- Responsible for conducting investigations into complaints related to offences committed by members of the National Police Service under Sections 6, 7, 24 and 25 of the IPOA Act

- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB)
- Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
- Registered Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Valid practising certificate and Law Society of Kenya (LSK) membership
- Responsible for court representation, legal opinion, contract drafting, and prosecution support
Research Officer II — 1 Post
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Management, Project Management, Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Sciences or equivalent
- Expertise in statistical packages and data analysis tools
- Responsible for policy research, data collection, and knowledge generation to support IPOA’s oversight mandate
Support Staff Roles
Clerical Officer II — 1 Post
- KCSE mean grade C- (Minus) or equivalent
- Pass in proficiency examination for Clerical Officers

- Responsible for general clerical services including filing, data processing, and records management
Driver II — 4 Posts
- KCSE mean grade D (Plain) or equivalent
- Valid driving licence and Suitability Trade Test for Drivers
- Minimum 2 years proven driving experience
- First Aid certificate (minimum 1 week) from KIHBT or recognised institution
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
- Practical driving test conducted by Ministry of Transport or AA of Kenya
