About This Role
aak-GROW/CropLife Kenya represents the crop protection industry in Kenya, which means your work as Communications and PR Officer will directly shape how the public, government, and industry players understand and engage with topics around responsible pesticide use and agricultural best practices. You will develop and execute communication strategies, manage press relationships, oversee digital and social media, and provide guidance during crisis communication situations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute communication and public relations strategies aligned with organisational goals
- Lead media relations and manage all press engagement on behalf of aak-GROW/CropLife Kenya
- Provide strategic guidance on crisis communication and corporate reputation management
- Drive stakeholder engagement with government agencies, industry partners, and sector players
- Oversee all digital and social media communication channels
- Support advocacy initiatives and promote informed public dialogue on responsible pesticide use
- Plan and execute communication campaigns and stakeholder events
- Monitor media coverage and prepare communication performance reports
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
- Membership of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK)
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in communications or public relations
- Proven experience in communication strategy development
- Demonstrated experience in media relations and stakeholder engagement
- Hands-on background in crisis communication and reputation management
Desirable:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience working in agriculture, regulatory, public policy, or development sectors
- Strong understanding of advocacy and stakeholder engagement in complex environments
Skills and Competencies
