The Reliever Merchandiser Upturn Ark Kenya 2026 role is a field-based position covering retail outlets across your assigned region. As a reliever, you step in to maintain merchandising standards at various client outlets — ensuring products are correctly displayed, shelves are well-stocked, and brand visibility is upheld even when regular merchandisers are unavailable.
This role suits someone who is mobile, self-directed, and comfortable operating across different retail environments — supermarkets, minimarkets, or FMCG distribution points — without needing close supervision. You will be expected to move between outlets as directed, report your activities via smartphone, and maintain the merchandising standards set by Upturn Ark and its clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Cover assigned retail outlets as a reliever merchandiser, maintaining product displays and shelf standards in the absence of permanent merchandisers
- Ensure products are correctly placed, faced, priced, and fully stocked according to planogram or client instructions at each outlet visited
- Conduct outlet visits across multiple locations within your assigned region — Nairobi, Mt. Kenya, Nakuru, Kisumu, or Coast
- Report daily outlet visit activities, stock observations, and competitor activity via smartphone reporting tools
- Communicate promptly with the Upturn Ark coordination team regarding outlet assignments, route changes, and field issues
- Maintain professional conduct and represent Upturn Ark and client brands positively at all retail touchpoints
- Flag out-of-stock situations, damaged stock, or display issues to the relevant team immediately
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Prior experience in merchandising, field sales, or FMCG brand activation — supermarket or retail outlet experience preferred
- Reliable, flexible, and genuinely willing to move between different outlets as assigned — this is a relief role, not a fixed-location position
- Must own and actively use a smartphone for reporting, communication, and daily activity tracking
- Based in or able to work within one of the five regions: Nairobi, Mt. Kenya, Nakuru, Kisumu, or Coast
Desirable:
- Prior experience working with a merchandising agency or field sales outsourcing company in Kenya
- Familiarity with retail audit or merchandising reporting apps
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) — minimum D+ or equivalent
- Basic understanding of FMCG retail dynamics in the Kenyan market
Skills and Competencies
- Physical mobility and stamina for a full day of outlet-to-outlet field work
- Strong time management — covering multiple outlets in a single day requires discipline and route planning
- Good communication skills for daily check-ins and issue escalation with the coordination team
