Jacaranda Health is hiring a Program Officer based in Kwale County to support implementation of its PROMPTS and MENTORS programs across public health facilities. The deadline is 18 May 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis — apply early. Start date is June 2026.
About This Role
The Program Officer will coordinate and oversee implementation of Jacaranda Health’s two flagship maternal health interventions in Kwale County — PROMPTS, an AI-enabled SMS service supporting mothers through pregnancy and postpartum, and MENTORS, a facility-based EmONC clinical mentorship programme for frontline nurses. You’ll work closely with county government teams, health facility staff, and the wider Jacaranda Health programme team.
The role reports to the Senior Regional Program Coordinator on a one-year renewable contract.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Implementation
- Coordinate and supervise PROMPTS and MENTORS activities in allocated counties — aligned to KPIs and program deliverables
- Support priority facilities by working closely with in-facility mentors and PROMPTS contact staff
- Plan and participate in county joint Mentorship and PROMPTS performance review meetings
- Coordinate facility and community-based PROMPTS enrollment activities to increase ANC coverage
Technical & Digital Health Support
- Support in-facility mentors to run CME and simulation drill activities
- Support PROMPTS contact persons to create awareness and enrol mothers onto the SMS platform
- Coordinate EmONC coaching activities — ensuring all simulation tools and materials are available
- Manage and continuously update PROMPTS programme tools
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and manage relationships with county, sub-county, and health facility teams including RH, MNH, and QI teams
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve overall programme performance
Data & Performance Management
- Prepare and share monthly reports with the Regional Program Coordinator and health facilities
- Coordinate sharing and utilisation of the PULSE dashboard across facilities and county management teams
- Communicate county challenges and opportunities with context-specific solutions to the programme coordinator
Required Qualifications
Education
- Diploma in Nursing or Clinical Medicine — required
- Health systems management, public health programme experience, or EmONC knowledge — added advantage
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience implementing maternal and newborn health programmes within the public health system
Skills & Competencies
- Coaching, mentorship, facilitation, and people management skills
- Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills in culturally diverse environments
- Tech-savvy — proficient in MS Office and G-Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets)
