Kenya Cooperative Coffee Exporters (KCCE) — through Co-operative Bank of Kenya — is hiring a Field Services Officer to drive coffee mobilisation, business development, and farmer relationship management across Kenya’s 33 coffee-growing counties. About This Role
The Field Services Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and plays a central role in securing agency and brokerage contracts, supporting farmer education, managing credit discussions with growers, and conducting marketing intelligence across the coffee value chain. This is a field-heavy, relationship-intensive role requiring genuine passion for Kenya’s coffee industry.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Farmer Engagement
- Develop and execute monthly work plans for AGMs, farmer field education days, and CMC meetings
- Organise and facilitate training sessions for members, CMC committees, and co-operative managers
- Attend customer education days and AGMs — advising on best agricultural and marketing practices
- Provide growers with timely communication on sales progress and quality outcomes
- Visit growers and estates regularly to maintain structured customer contact
Business Development & Marketing
- Proactively market and secure agency and brokerage contracts to grow market share
- Review and renew auction and direct market contracts
- Conduct marketing intelligence and promote coffee production, processing, and marketing best practices
- Collect and analyse field data on coffee production for strategic decision-making
Credit & Financial Support
- Visit growers and estates for credit discussions — analysing applications and evaluating repayment ability based on cash flows and coffee quality
- Ensure proper recovery and documentation of all credit requests
- Ensure compliance with lending guidelines and Co-op Bank policies
Reporting & Compliance
- Provide regular updates to the CEO on field outcomes
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews
- Maintain records in line with organisational policies
- Liaise with the warehouse department for clean coffee deliveries
- Adhere to motor vehicle use guidelines and maintain regular communication with the Fleet and Asset Manager
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, or Marketing — required
- Diploma in an agriculture-related field — added advantage
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience working directly with coffee growers
- Previous experience in relationship management and customer training
- Demonstrated exposure to the coffee value chain
Skills
- Computer literacy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for multi-stakeholder engagement
- Analytical skills for field data collection and credit assessment
