Category: Health Research | MEL | Clinical | Laboratory | Finance Locations: Nairobi, Kilifi, Mombasa |

The International Centre for Reproductive Health Kenya (ICRH Kenya) has announced a multiple-position recruitment drive, with seven open roles spanning monitoring and evaluation, health systems, research coordination, clinical work, laboratory science, and finance. Whether you are a seasoned MEL professional, a clinical officer, or a finance specialist, there is likely a role in this recruitment that speaks directly to your career trajectory.

    About ICRH Kenya

ICRH Kenya is a leading reproductive health research institution operating at the intersection of science, policy, and community health. Affiliated with Ghent University in Belgium, the organisation conducts high-quality research on sexual and reproductive health, HIV, and related areas across Kenya and the broader region. ICRH Kenya is known for rigorous research standards, strong partnerships with international funders, and a deep commitment to improving health outcomes for underserved populations.

Working with ICRH Kenya places you within a network of world-class researchers and development professionals — making it one of the more prestigious employers in Kenya’s health research sector.

    Open Positions

    1. Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) — Nairobi

A senior leadership role for an experienced MEL professional. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of MEL systems across ICRH Kenya’s programme portfolio. This is a strategic position requiring both technical depth and the ability to translate evidence into learning and programme improvement.

    2. MEL and Digital Health System Manager — Nairobi

A technical and managerial role sitting at the intersection of monitoring and evaluation and digital health systems. This position is suited to a professional with both MEL expertise and a strong command of digital data platforms and health information systems.

    3. Statistician / Epidemiologist — Nairobi

A research-facing role for a quantitative specialist with experience in biostatistics, epidemiology, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will likely support study design, data analysis, and the production of research outputs across ICRH Kenya’s active studies.

    4. Study Coordinators — Kilifi and Nairobi

Field and site-based coordination roles supporting the implementation of clinical or community research studies. Study Coordinators at ICRH Kenya typically manage participant recruitment, data collection oversight, regulatory compliance, and liaison between field teams and principal investigators.

    5. Study Clinical Officer — Nairobi

A clinical role embedded within an active research study. The Study Clinical Officer will likely be responsible for participant screening, clinical assessments, adverse event monitoring, and ensuring the integrity of clinical procedures in line with the study protocol.

    6. Laboratory Technologist — Nairobi

A laboratory-based position requiring technical proficiency in processing, analysing, and managing biological samples within a research setting. Experience with reproductive health, HIV, or infectious disease laboratory work is likely to be an advantage.

    7. Finance Officer — Mombasa

A finance and grants management role based at ICRH Kenya’s Mombasa office. The Finance Officer will be expected to support financial reporting, budget tracking, compliance with donor financial requirements, and day-to-day financial operations.

Why ICRH Kenya Recruitments Are Competitive

ICRH Kenya attracts applications from across Kenya and the region for every position it advertises. The organisation works to international research standards, and it expects the same from its staff. Regardless of the role you are applying for — whether clinical, technical, or administrative — your application must reflect precision, professionalism, and a genuine understanding of the organisation’s mission.

For research and MEL roles in particular, your CV must clearly demonstrate your methodological experience, the studies or programmes you have contributed to, and — where applicable — any publications or research outputs you have been part of. Generic CVs that list duties without demonstrating outcomes will not perform well in this process.

For clinical and laboratory roles, evidence of hands-on research study experience is a significant differentiator. If you have worked on a clinical trial, a cohort study, or a community health intervention, that must be clearly and specifically communicated in your application.
