UNICEF’s Data and Analytics team is hiring a paid remote consultant to support global maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (MNCAH) data work. This is a three-month consultancy open to students and early career professionals with strong data skills and an interest in public health measurement. If you are a Kenyan graduate or young professional with experience in R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI, this UNICEF MNCAH Data Consultant Remote Kenya 2026 opportunity is available now — apply by emailing your CV directly.
About This Role
UNICEF’s Data and Analytics section produces and maintains global data products used for SDG monitoring, UNICEF Strategic Plan reporting, programme planning, and policy advocacy. This consultancy sits within that team and focuses specifically on maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health data — one of the most critical and visible areas of global health measurement.
You will help update and improve UNICEF dashboards covering maternal and newborn health, adolescent health, and children’s environmental health. The work spans data curation, quality assurance, and dashboard development — giving you direct exposure to how global health data is collected, validated, visualised, and used across the UN system and by governments and partners worldwide.
This role suits a detail-oriented, analytically strong candidate who wants real-world experience working with global health datasets at the highest level of international public health accountability. It is fully remote, paid, and runs for three months.
Key Responsibilities
- Support updates to UNICEF’s global MNCAH dashboards covering maternal and newborn health, adolescent health, and children’s environmental health indicators
- Help integrate survey data, administrative data, modelled estimates, and subnational datasets into unified data products
- Conduct data quality assurance and validation checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across global reporting datasets
- Contribute to data products used for SDG monitoring and UNICEF Strategic Plan accountability reporting
- Support dashboard development and visualisation improvements using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Observable, or equivalent platforms
- Assist with data curation workflows — cleaning, structuring, and documenting datasets for global use
- Contribute to documentation and metadata standards for MNCAH data products
- Support the Data and Analytics team in responding to internal and partner data requests related to MNCAH indicators
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Current enrolment in or recent completion of a degree in Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Global Health, or a related quantitative field
- Strong hands-on skills in at least one of: R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, Observable, or similar data analysis and visualisation tools
- Demonstrated interest in global health, women and children’s health outcomes, or international development data
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote setting
- Strong written English for producing documentation, briefs, and data summaries
Desirable:
- Prior exposure to global health datasets — DHS (Demographic and Health Surveys), MICS, WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme data, or similar
- Experience with dashboard development or data visualisation for non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with SDG indicators, UN reporting frameworks, or global health accountability mechanisms
- Knowledge of subnational data integration or small area estimation methods
- Prior internship, research, or consultancy experience in a public health or data science environment
Skills and Competencies
- Strong quantitative and analytical thinking — comfortable working with large, complex, multi-source datasets
- Attention to data quality — you spot inconsistencies and follow through to resolution
- Clear written communication for data documentation and stakeholder-facing summaries
- Self-directed work style — able to manage your own time and deliverables remotely without daily supervision
- Curiosity and commitment to learning how global data systems work across the UN and partner ecosystem
