About This Role
Efiko Learning is a virtual tutoring platform connecting students across Africa and beyond with qualified tutors for one-on-one and small group online sessions. As a Mathematics Tutor, your job is straightforward: help students understand and improve in Mathematics through structured, engaging online lessons.
This role is not about how many years you have in a classroom. It is about how well you break down complex topics — algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics — into clear, digestible steps that students can follow and apply. If you have ever explained a Maths concept to someone and watched it click, this role is built for you.
You work from anywhere with a stable internet connection, making it a practical option for Kenyan teachers between school contracts, recent graduates, or anyone looking to earn from their subject knowledge without relocating.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Mathematics lessons to students online via Efiko Learning’s virtual platform, covering curriculum topics across secondary and post-secondary levels
- Conduct one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions tailored to each student’s learning pace and gaps
- Teach and simplify core Mathematics topics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics
- Design lesson approaches that build student confidence and improve problem-solving skills progressively
- Track individual student progress and adjust teaching methods to match their understanding
- Maintain punctuality and professionalism across all scheduled tutoring sessions
- Communicate session feedback and student progress to the platform as required
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education (Mathematics option), Statistics, Engineering, or a closely related quantitative field
- Demonstrated ability to teach and explain Mathematical concepts clearly to learners at different levels
- Reliable internet connection and a functioning laptop, tablet, or desktop computer
- Good spoken and written English for instruction and student communication
Desirable:
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience (formal or informal) — online or in-person
- Familiarity with online teaching tools such as Google Meet, Zoom, or virtual whiteboards
- TSC (Teachers Service Commission) registration or a PGDE/B.Ed. in Mathematics is an added advantage
- Experience teaching the Kenyan CBC or 8-4-4 Mathematics curriculum
Skills and Competencies
- Patient and structured communication — ability to simplify without losing accuracy
- Strong subject mastery across the Mathematics curriculum from Form 1 to university entry level
- Self-discipline to manage your own schedule and deliver sessions reliably without supervision
- Adaptability to different student learning styles and pace
- Basic digital literacy — comfortable using video conferencing tools and sharing screens or documents online

About Efiko Learning
Efiko Learning is an online education platform focused on connecting students across Africa with qualified tutors for virtual, personalised learning sessions. The platform was built around the reality that quality tutoring has historically been limited by geography — students in smaller towns or under-resourced schools struggle to access specialist subject help. Efiko Learning removes that barrier by putting tutors and students together online.
The platform is open to tutors from across Africa, meaning Kenyan Mathematics teachers and graduates can access students well beyond the local market. With virtual tutoring growing rapidly across the continent, platforms like Efiko Learning represent a real income stream for qualified educators willing to teach online.
