The National Construction Authority (NCA) is a government organisation mandated to regulate, streamline, and build capacity within Kenya’s construction industry. The NCA is currently recruiting 60 apprentices across its regional offices, liaison offices, and various head office departments. Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend in accordance with the Authority’s approved policies. All positions are contract-based and open to Diploma holders only.
This is a significant opportunity for recent Diploma graduates to gain structured, hands-on experience within a leading government regulatory body.
TECHNICAL & FIELD DEPARTMENTS
Regional Offices – 25 Posts Apprentices placed across NCA’s regional offices will support construction regulation and compliance activities at the county level. They will work alongside technical officers in monitoring construction projects, supporting site inspections, and assisting with industry capacity-building initiatives across their respective regions.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
Liaison Offices – 10 Posts Apprentices in liaison offices will support coordination between the NCA and external stakeholders including county governments, contractors, and industry bodies. They will assist with administrative and technical functions that facilitate the NCA’s regulatory mandate at the local level.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
Registration and Compliance Department – 2 Posts Apprentices in this department will support the registration of contractors and the monitoring of compliance with NCA regulations. Duties will include processing applications, verifying documentation, and assisting compliance officers with routine enforcement activities.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
RESEARCH, STRATEGY & TRAINING
Research and Business Development Department – 2 Posts Apprentices will assist with data collection, research activities, and the preparation of reports that inform NCA’s strategic direction and business development initiatives. They will support ongoing studies related to the construction industry landscape in Kenya.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Statistics, or Mathematics.
Training and Capacity Building Department – 2 Posts Apprentices will support the planning and delivery of training programmes aimed at building capacity within Kenya’s construction industry. Duties will include coordinating training logistics, preparing materials, and maintaining accurate records of training activities and outcomes.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Statistics, or Mathematics.
Planning and Quality Assurance Department – 2 Posts Apprentices will assist with planning functions and quality assurance processes within the Authority. This includes supporting data analysis, monitoring project timelines, and contributing to quality control frameworks that ensure the NCA’s programmes and outputs meet required standards.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Economics or Statistics.
FINANCE, AUDIT & LEGAL
Internal Audit Department – Posts Available Apprentices will support the internal audit team in reviewing financial records, assessing compliance with internal controls, and assisting with audit documentation and reporting. This role offers valuable exposure to government audit processes and financial governance frameworks.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Accounting, CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent qualification.
Finance and Accounts Department – 2 Posts Apprentices will assist with day-to-day financial operations including processing transactions, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting the preparation of financial reports in line with government accounting standards.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Accounting, CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent qualification.
Legal Department – Posts Available Apprentices will support the legal team with research, documentation, contract review assistance, and administrative functions related to the Authority’s legal and regulatory obligations. This role offers practical exposure to legal work within a government regulatory environment.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Law or a related field.
CORPORATE SUPPORT DEPARTMENTS
Corporate Communications Department – 2 Posts Apprentices will assist with the development and dissemination of internal and external communications, support media relations activities, contribute to content creation for NCA platforms, and help coordinate corporate events and public engagement initiatives.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Communication, Journalism, or an equivalent qualification.
Human Resource Department – 3 Posts Apprentices will support the HR team with recruitment administration, staff records management, coordination of HR processes, and general human resource administrative functions. This role provides practical exposure to HR operations within a public sector institution.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Human Resource Management or a related field.
Administration Department – 3 Posts Apprentices will provide general administrative support including correspondence management, scheduling, filing, and coordination of office operations. They will assist in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Authority’s administrative functions.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Business Management or a related field.
Supply Chain Management Department – 2 Posts Apprentices will support procurement and supply chain functions including sourcing, vendor documentation, inventory management, and compliance with public procurement regulations. This role offers practical experience in government procurement processes.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
ICT Department – 3 Posts Apprentices will assist with the maintenance of IT systems, provide technical support to staff, support network administration, and contribute to ICT projects within the Authority. This role is suited to technically minded individuals with an interest in public sector ICT management.
Required Qualification: Diploma in Information and Communication Technology or a related field.
General Requirements – All Positions:
- Must hold a Diploma in the relevant field as specified for each department
- Must be a Kenyan citizen
- No prior professional work experience is required
- Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend as per NCA’s approved policies
