About the Study
APHRC, in partnership with the Population Council-Kenya and the Ministry of Education, is implementing a study titled Mitigating School-Related Gender-Based Violence (MSRGBV). The study will be conducted across 10 counties between May and June 2026 and seeks to generate comprehensive evidence on the prevalence of SRGBV, awareness levels, prevention strategies, response mechanisms, and lived experiences among learners, teachers, school administrators, parents/caregivers, and key education stakeholders.
Position 1: Quantitative Field Interviewers
Duties and Responsibilities
- Commit to attending all days of training and data collection.
- Obtain and document informed consent from study participants before interviews.
- Conduct data collection as assigned by the study team for the duration of the study.
- Provide the study team with daily field reports for the duration of data collection.
- Act professionally and observe ethical standards when working with study participants.
- Take care of assigned data collection equipment such as tablets and audio recorders.
- Any other activity assigned by the supervisor, project manager, and principal investigator.
Minimum Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C Plain.
- Experience in electronic data capture methods like SurveyCTO or Open Data Kit (ODK).
- Must be attentive to detail and ensure correctness of all data entered.
- Fluent in English and Swahili, both oral and written.
- Available to work full-time for the duration of the study.
Position 2: Qualitative Field Interviewers
Duties and Responsibilities
- Consenting study respondents before interviews and group discussions.
- Conducting interviews and focus group discussions with recruited participants.
- Note-taking and writing debriefing reports for all interviews conducted.
- Ensure data quality and confidentiality.
- Ensuring the safety of data collection tools and equipment assigned.
- Any other related activity assigned by the project coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proven experience and skills in qualitative research.
- Ability to facilitate interviews and group discussions in English and Swahili.
- Available to work full-time for the duration of the study.
