Finance and accounting recruitment professional with experience placing mid-to-senior finance candidates across Kenya’s manufacturing and commercial sectors | Last updated: April 2026
A Nairobi-based employer is hiring an Accounts Payable Accountant offering a gross salary of KES 100,000–130,000 per month. The role is based across two locations — Nairobi and Muruka (Kandara Road) — and the application deadline is close of business, 23 April 2026. If you have 5 years in payables and manufacturing experience, this Accounts Payable Accountant Nairobi Kenya 2026 opportunity sits at the right compensation level for your profile.
About This Role
This is a hands-on, detail-critical accounts payable position within a manufacturing setup. You won’t be managing a team of junior accountants — you’ll be in the weeds of vendor management, invoice processing, reconciliations, and payment runs. The dual-location nature of the role (Nairobi and Muruka/Kandara Road) means flexibility and willingness to work across sites is non-negotiable.
The employer is recruiting through Stratum, a Kenyan HR and recruitment firm. The vacancy was sourced from their official communications.
Key Responsibilities
While a detailed JD hasn’t been published beyond the key requirements, an Accounts Payable Accountant role in a manufacturing environment at this experience and salary level typically covers:
- Processing and verifying supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes
- Managing the full accounts payable cycle — from invoice receipt to payment approval and disbursement
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date creditors ledger
- Preparing payment runs — both local and international suppliers where applicable
- Ensuring all payments comply with company approval authorities and internal controls
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing activities related to payables
- Liaising with procurement, stores, and operations teams to resolve invoice or delivery queries
- Maintaining proper filing and documentation of all payment transactions for audit purposes
- Preparing ageing reports and providing analysis on outstanding payables to management
In a manufacturing environment specifically, you’ll also be dealing with high transaction volumes, raw material suppliers, and potentially multi-currency payables — so experience in that context matters.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognised university
- CPA-K qualification — preferred, not optional if you want to be competitive
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable or a similar finance role
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setup — highly preferred and likely a shortlisting filter
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy — payables errors have direct cash flow consequences
- Familiarity with local accounting regulations and Kenyan tax principles (VAT, withholding tax)
- Proficiency in accounting systems (SAP, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar ERP) and Microsoft Excel
The manufacturing experience requirement is the most selective filter here. If your 5 years have been entirely in service, retail, or banking, you’ll face stiff competition from candidates who’ve worked in production or FMCG environments.
CPA-K holders can verify or update their membership status via ICPAK — ensure your practising certificate is current before you apply.
What They Offer
- Gross salary: KES 100,000–130,000 per month
- The range suggests negotiation room — candidates with a full CPA-K and strong manufacturing AP experience will likely anchor closer to 130K
- Additional benefits not specified in the advert — confirm during the interview process
