Role at a Glance
Who Is Hemingways Travel?
Hemingways Travel Limited is a well-established Kenyan travel management company with deep roots in corporate and luxury travel. They manage travel for some of the biggest corporations, NGOs, and institutional clients operating across East Africa. Think of them as the behind-the-scenes engine that keeps business travel running smoothly for organizations that can't afford disruptions.
Working here means you're not selling budget flights or hotel deals to walk-in tourists. You're managing strategic accounts, building long-term partnerships, and positioning Hemingways as the preferred travel partner for clients who value professionalism over price.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
This is a hands-on, results-driven role. Here's a breakdown of what your week will look like once you're in the seat:
- Identify, prospect, and bring in new corporate, NGO, and institutional clients
- Manage and grow a strong sales pipeline to consistently hit revenue and growth targets
- Respond to RFPs, RFQs, EOIs, and tenders — coordinating with internal teams to deliver winning proposals
- Serve as the go-to relationship manager for your assigned corporate accounts
- Conduct regular Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to track performance and uncover growth opportunities
- Drive high levels of client satisfaction, retention, and contract renewals
- Act as the first point of escalation when client issues arise, working closely with operations
- Cross-sell and upsell services to existing clients to maximize account value
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and shifts in client needs
- Prepare sales reports, pipeline updates, and management briefs on a regular basis
- Contribute to pricing discussions, sales strategy, and product development conversations
This role requires you to be both a hunter and a farmer — you'll be expected to bring in new business AND keep existing clients happy. If you thrive in high-accountability environments where your results are visible, this could be your sweet spot.
Do You Qualify? Here's What They're Looking For
Before you apply, run through this checklist honestly. Hemingways will be looking for candidates who genuinely tick these boxes:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in corporate sales — ideally within travel management, hospitality, technology, logistics, or professional services
- A proven track record of managing corporate accounts and closing complex, high-value deals
- Strong commercial acumen — you understand margins, pricing strategy, and business value
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
If you have 4+ years of solid corporate sales experience in a closely related industry, it's still worth applying. Tailor your CV to highlight results — revenue generated, accounts managed, deals closed. Numbers speak louder than job titles.
How to Apply — Step by Step
The application process is straightforward, but a few things could make or break your chances. Follow these steps carefully:
- Polish your CV first. Make sure it highlights measurable achievements — sales figures, client accounts managed, percentage growth targets hit. Generic CVs get ignored.
- Write a focused cover letter. One page is enough. Tell them why you want to work in corporate travel sales specifically — and why Hemingways.
- Send your CV and cover letter to recruitment@hemingways.co — use a professional email address and a clear subject line like "Application — Corporate Sales Executive."
- Submit before the deadline: 20th April 2026. Late applications are rarely considered in corporate hiring. Don't leave it to the last minute.
- Follow up politely if you haven't heard back within 10 working days after the deadline.
Send your CV and application to recruitment@hemingways.co — or visit the official website for any updates.
Sending a CV with no cover letter. Using a casual email address. Not customizing your application for the role. Submitting on the last day when inboxes are flooded. Avoid all of these and you'll already be ahead of most applicants.
