The Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi represents Sweden in Kenya, Somalia, Seychelles, and Comoros, and also serves as Sweden’s mission to UNEP and UN-Habitat. The Embassy promotes Swedish policies, values, and interests through political engagement, development cooperation, trade and investment promotion, and cultural and public diplomacy.
In addition, the Embassy provides consular services to Swedish nationals and migration services to non-nationals. The official working language at the Embassy is English.
About the Migration Section
The Migration Section is responsible for handling visa, residence permit, and work permit applications within a regional mandate covering 24 countries. The section manages application processing, interviews, decision-making in visa cases, applicant communication, and administrative functions.
The Embassy is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented Migration Assistant who can work independently, manage high workloads, and perform effectively under pressure while collaborating closely with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Receiving, registering, and processing applications for visas, residence permits, and work permits

Conducting interviews for residence permit cases

Responding to inquiries from applicants and stakeholders via telephone and email

Performing filing, archiving, and general administrative duties

Carrying out additional tasks as assigned by the Head of the Migration Section
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

A university degree in law, political science, international relations, or a related field

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in areas such as:

Legal services

Fraud prevention
-
Migration services (visas, residence permits, work permits)

Other closely related professional fields

Relevant experience must have been obtained within the last three years

Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Additional Skills (Advantageous)

Knowledge of French and/or African languages
