About This Role
The Research Assistants will primarily conduct face-to-face and telephone interviews with clients at selected Marie Stopes Clinics in Nairobi as part of an active research study. You’ll support data collection, informed consent administration, and participant screening while maintaining strict confidentiality throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in training sessions for study procedures and review of data collection tools
- Identify, recruit, and screen eligible clients for study participation while maintaining confidentiality
- Administer and document the informed consent process and securely store consent documents
- Develop in-depth understanding of study design and conduct all activities in compliance with study protocols
- Work closely with study coordinators to prepare daily and weekly interview schedules
- Conduct quantitative interviews with study participants
- Provide regular progress updates to study coordinators
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities
- Respond to participant and stakeholder questions about the study
Required Qualifications
Education
- Minimum Certificate or Diploma in Communications, Psychology, Public Health, Community Health, Epidemiology, or a related discipline
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of post-training working experience
- Minimum 1 year of call centre experience — healthcare sector preferred
- Demonstrated experience conducting surveys and in-depth interviews
- Familiarity with ODK or KoboCollect — required
Skills
- Advanced computer skills and MS Office proficiency
- High attention to detail with ability to follow through sensitive conversations to completion
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- High regard for confidentiality and demonstrated integrity
- Punctual, reliable, and client-centred
