About This Role
As Accounts Officer at Africa Safari Trips Kenya, you will sit at the heart of the company’s financial operations. Your daily work will involve maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring the business remains fully compliant with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and other statutory requirements. You will also play a direct role in producing the financial reports that guide management decisions across the company.

You will work closely with the wider finance team and interface with operational departments to keep financial data clean, timely, and reliable. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Business Central or equivalent accounting software
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in line with company policy
- Ensure timely filing of statutory deductions including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, and NHIF
- Prepare financial reports and summaries to support management decision-making
- Support the annual audit process by maintaining organised documentation and audit trails
- Monitor petty cash and ensure expenditure is correctly coded and approved
- Flag financial irregularities and escalate compliance concerns to the Finance Manager
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognised Kenyan institution
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Level 4 — this is a firm requirement
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on accounting or finance experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping principles, bank reconciliations, and statutory compliance
- Proficiency in Business Central, QuickBooks, Sage, or a comparable accounting system
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
Desirable:
- Experience working in the tourism, hospitality, or travel industry
- Familiarity with KRA iTax system and online statutory filing platforms
- Exposure to multi-currency transactions
Skills and Competencies
- High numerical accuracy with strong reconciliation skills
- Ability to work under deadline pressure without compromising quality
- Clear written communication for financial reports and internal correspondence
- Solid understanding of Kenyan tax law and statutory obligations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
